The SAZF is a constituent body of the World Zionist Organisation; and the representative in South Africa of the World Zionist Organisation.

Connections

The SA Zionist Federation enjoys ongoing and dedicated support from a number of Christian organisations.

These include:

  • Bridges for Peace
  • Christian Action for Israel
  • The International Christian Embassy Jerusalem
  • Ebenezer
All these organisations have unreservedly expressed their commitment to the cause of Israel and her survival, as well as to peace within her borders. The number of Christian communities in Israel today – some 20 ancient and indigenous churches and another 30 primarily Protestant denominational groups, which include Greek and Roman Orthodox, Rumanian and Armenian Orthodox, and Roman Catholic Churches – bears testament to the kindred spirit that so many Christians feel with their Jewish neighbours.

There is also a strongly positive feeling for Israel and the Jewish community within the African Christian Democratic Party under the leadership of Reverend Kenneth Meshoe, MP. The Reverend was one of the guest speakers at the Rally for Israel and has since visited Israel and shown unqualified support for the country and the people in their attempts to secure a lasting peace.

In South Africa

A vital part of the work of the SA Zionist Federation, in association with the country communities Rabbi, Rabbi Moshe Silberhaft of the South African Jewish Board of deputies, and particularly through the efforts of the Aliyah Shaliach, is keeping constant contact with the many small, but no less significant and valuable, country communities.

This is carried out with absolute dedication and Zionist fervour by those secular and religious members of the community who have dedicated themselves to keeping alive the spirit of Zionism among Jews throughout the country.
